Framework for Change

Our work aligns with ‘From Lament to Action’

Leadership and Direction:

The report emphasises the need for strong leadership to drive the implementation of racial justice initiatives. This includes overseeing strategic direction, ensuring accountability, and promoting the vision of a just and equitable Church.

Project Management:

The report calls for structured implementation of actions, with clear timelines and responsibilities. This includes coordinating these actions, ensuring they meet deadlines, and are aligned with the overall strategy of the Church to address racial injustice.

Communications and Engagement:

An emphasis on the importance of effective communication strategies to engage with the broader community, raise awareness, and support transparency in the Church’s efforts towards racial justice. This includes managing both internal and external communications to align with the Church’s mission.

Listening and Participation:

Promote the full participation of UKME/GMH Anglicans by addressing institutional barriers, increasing diversity in leadership, and implementing structural changes. This includes ensuring diverse voices are included in decision-making and holding the Church accountable for equitable representation.

Data and Support:

Data and monitoring are crucial to help us understand what needs to change. Collect and analyse racial diversity data consistently across all levels of the Church. This includes making diversity monitoring mandatory, using data to track progress, set targets, and ensure accountability, ultimately supporting the Church’s commitment to transparency and equitable representation.

Theological Development:

The theological rationale for our work stems from the foundational commitment that we are all wonderfully and fearfully created in the image of God. This requires us to emphasise the intrinsic value in each and every human being, making mutuality and responsibility towards one another a theological mandate.

Children And Young People:

Empower young people by engaging them in racial justice initiatives, ensuring their voices are heard and valued within the Church. This includes creating supportive environments that encourage their active participation in the Church’s efforts to promote equity and inclusion.

Education:

This work uses the Church’s educational influence to promote racial justice. This includes embedding anti-racism education within the Church’s educational institutions and programs to support holistic development and ensure equity.

Advocacy:

This area focuses on promoting racial justice by advocating for systemic changes within the Church and society. This includes supporting initiatives that dismantle racism and ensuring that the Church’s actions align with its commitment to justice.

Training:

This work provides targeted training on anti-racism and diversity to equip Church members and leaders with the necessary skills to address racism. This is crucial for fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring that the Church’s actions reflect its commitment to equity.
